Jeremy, I don't know if I sent you my AUP when you first asked for it (if not, I apologize profusely). Here it is. I will be starting a new position at Oakridge Elementary as the Computer Prep teacher. If you are still working on the AUP, I would love to help. If you have completed it, I would love to see it. Thanks for your support and assistance.

Great Alice, thanks  for the info. We are in the process of updating the AUP, could you send us yours so that we can use it for some new ideas? Would you be interested in helping with the revision?
Jeremy

YES, I got permission. Because of a mess with swapping kids around between classes at my site, I did not have the district slips. Also since I was doing Podcasting, I wanted permission to post audio from parents, and video, just in case I ever get around to that. That was not on the district form, so  I made my own. All the kids in the pics have brought in a signed permission slip. All the kids on Podcasts have an okay for that. Also, the district Acceptable Use is not up to date, IMHO, with regards to working in a wiki environment (my next project) because it specifies that students not "change or edit" other students work, which is exactly what they do in a wiki. I changed it to something along the lines of if you are changing something, it should be to improve/help with learning, and should not be vindictive, etc. in my online rules.

Thank you for your input and support

Alice,
Your web page looks great, nice work. I love the podcast as well, I am currently working on a few podcasting projects in the district, glad to see you leading the way with teachers!! About the blocking, please give me specific url's that are being blocked and I'll make sure that they are put on our whitelist. If you want access to a blog page there is a form that you need to fill out and have signed by your administrator. Send it to me and I'll make sure that it gets opened. Another question, did you get permission to post the students' pictures on your web page? If not, please do that, I plan on showing your webpage to my boss and she'll ask me that same question.

Anything else, please feel free to call or e-mail.

Thanks,

I was referred to you by Dylan Besk (she and I used to be co-workers in Community Day). I am an elementary teacher in the district, and I'm trying to use web 2.0 with my students. I understand you are working on blogs and blog issues in the district, so I wanted to let you know what I'm doing, and the problems/roadblocks I'm running into.

I have a website for my class at: http://nicholasfifth.edublogs.org

I can get into the site from district computers just fine, but I can't edit files on edublogs (I think they may go through word press) because of the firewall.

I have a wiki for collaboration with my rsp teacher, and collegues at: http://nicholasrsp.pbwiki.com. I get in most of the time, but a few times I've been blocked with the firewall message???

I do online meetings using Vyew.com (a free online conference meeting site), and that goes through at the site (although I do most of my work on that at home at night).

I do not run across many elementary collegues doing this, so I would love to know what is happening in High School classes with this.

Thanks for listening!
